Dental restorations (fillings) are used to repair small to medium size defects in teeth that are caused by damage or decay. We are proud to say that our office is 100% Amalgam (mercury) free. We use only the latest generation composite resin (white fillings) and bonding materials available. Composite resin fillings provide an inexpensive way to repair damage teeth and are virtually invisible as they match the color of your natural teeth.
What is done?
Most restorations require the dentist to anesthetise the area that is being work on. After the local anaesthetic is administered the dentist will isolate the area with a green rubber dam, this instrument will provide dry and clean field which is essential to achieving a solid and stable restoration. The dentist will then remove any decay present or cracks that caused the defect in the first place and replace the defect with the white composite filling.

What will happen if the restoration is not done?
If the decay is not removed, the tooth will become infected and you will feel extreme pain, at this point you will need a root canal to save the tooth.
What should I expect after restorations are done?
After the dentist completes the restoration, your lips and tongue will be numb for a few more hours. To avoid injuring yourself it is important not to chew on the numb areas. Your restored tooth may also be sensitive to hot and cold for a few weeks after the filling is completed, it is important to tell your dentist if this problem does not subside.
